One of the best ways to experience Oconee County’s agricultural roots is by visiting local farms during harvest season. U-Pick season at Chattooga Belle Farm offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy fresh fruit, scenic mountain views, and a hands-on farm experience that’s fun for the whole family.

The Foothills Heritage Market at the F.A.R.M. Center brings together local farmers, makers, and artisans to showcase fresh produce, handmade goods, and regional products. It’s a great opportunity to support local agriculture while experiencing the community spirit that defines Oconee County.
Support Local Farmers Year Round
The Oconee Farm Collective connects the community with local farms and fresh products throughout the year and hosts the popular Farm Crawl each spring and fall. The event continues to grow each year, recently welcoming more than 1,000 ticket holders across 23 participating farms, with visitors traveling from 28 out of county cities, 34 out of state cities, and 8 cities throughout Oconee County to experience the area’s agricultural heritage firsthand. Many participating farms also offer stores, tours, and public access opportunities throughout the year.

Fishing Traditions in Oconee County
Fishing has also been a way of life in Oconee County for generations. With beautiful mountain rivers, peaceful lakes, and family friendly parks, the county offers countless opportunities for anglers and fly fishing of all skill levels.
National Fishing Week Events
National Fishing Week takes place June 6–14, 2026, with several events happening throughout the area.
On June 6, families can enjoy the free Kids Fishing Derby at Burrells Ford, open to children ages 12 and under. Later in the month, Bartram Bass Day on June 20, hosted by Chattooga River Fly Shop, will feature a fishing derby and evening event celebrating the region’s fishing culture. Visitors can follow the shop’s Facebook page for event details and updates.
