This rural community borders north Georgia and is surrounded by the Sumter National Forest in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The  area is an outdoor recreational paradise with the Chattooga River for whitewater rafting, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking and zip-line canopy tours. Several amazing waterfalls are also found in Long Creek.
Once a top apple producer in the country, numerous apple farms and roadside produce stands sell seasonal fruit. Chattooga Belle Farm is a destination for weddings and special events.
