Our Lakes

Lake Jocassee holds the world record for Red Eye Bass; and state records for Small Mouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout.

Lake Keowee is well known for a strong population of Spots and Crappie.

Lake Hartwell is full of Crappie and THE place to go for trophy Stripers, Hybrids, Catfish.

Lake Tugalo is a small lake limited to 20 HP motors, but the fish are plenty including Trout, Bass and Walleye.

Our Rivers

The Chattooga and Chauga Rivers are heavily stocked with Brown, Rainbow and Brook Trout from the Walhalla Fish Hatchery.  The rivers are great for fly fishing, spinning reel or cane pole.

Fishing License Required

The cost of a resident freshwater fishing license is $10 annually and $5 for a 14-day permit.  Non-resident fees are $35 annually and $11 for a 14-day permit.  No additional stamps required.  For more details about South Carolina fishing regulations view the SCDNR webpage.

Lake Hartwell

Lake Hartwell is a reservoir bordering Georgia and South Carolina and is created by Hartwell Dam. One of the southeast’s largest and most popular recreation lakes, LAKE HARTWELL comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water with a shoreline of 962 miles. Highway I-85 bisects Hartwell Lake and makes the area easily accessible to visitors.

Lake Hartwell State Park

Just off of I-85, at the South Carolina-Georgia border, you’ll find Lake Hartwell State Park. Thanks to 56,000-acre Lake Hartwell, fishing in this area is renowned by anglers across the state. Attractions: Unique Single Room Camper Cabins, 128 Camping Sites, 1 Picnic Shelter Building, 2 Boat Ramp, Basketball Court, Swimming and Hiking.

With 18,500 acres of water and a 300-mile shoreline, the Lake Keowee area is popular for fishing, waterskiing, swimming, camping and picnicking. Limit Chaser Outdoors LLC

Trout fishing and fly fishing guide service. Owner/Guide Wyatt Fulbright has over 15 years of fishing experience. He’s based out of Greenville, SC and offers guided fly fishing in Upstate SC and Western NC. His aim is to get people outdoors and onto our amazing waterways in hopes of fostering conservation and interest in protecting water resources. Walhalla State Fish Hatchery

Operated by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), the Walhalla State Fishery produces trout for recreational fishing. It is the only SC state hatchery involved in the culture of coldwater trout. When the trout reach an appropriate size, they are stocked wherever suitable coldwater habitat occurs in South Carolina. Visitors are welcome to tour the facility.
