Lake Tugalo lies in the mountainous region between Oconee County, South Carolina and Habersham and Rabun Counties in Georgia.
The western arm of the lake is fed by the Tallulah River (GA), while the eastern arm is fed by the Chattooga River (NC/SC).
Lake Tugalo is a 597-acre reservoir with 18 miles of shoreline. Â It is backed by the Tugalo Dam. The lake is below Section IV of the Chattooga River and is surrounded by forest covered foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Several small waterfalls flow into this undeveloped lake. Lake Tugalo is an idyllic spot for standup paddle boards, flat water kayaking or fishing. Motorboats are restricted to motors below 20hp, which ensures you’ll find a peaceful tranquil setting.
