Lake Jocassee is listed in Scuba Diving Magazine as one of the world’s top 25 fresh water diving destinations. The trout filled rivers and streams that feed Jocassee are the reason for its clarity, where visibility surpasses 50 feet depth on warm summers days. Lake levels affect the depth of the dive sites as much as 25 feet on Jocassee.
The “Wall” is the most visited diving area on Jocassee and was created by blasting the side of a mountain for dam construction. Other areas to explore include a forty foot wooden sail boat imported from China knows as the ‘Chinese Junk’. It is sitting upright adjacent to a 165 foot drop which allows ample room to swim through.
