Waterfalls

There are over 300 recorded waterfalls in Oconee County – and each one is absolutely beautiful!

For a listing of 25 accessible Waterfalls in Oconee County, go to the WATERFALLS section on our PLAY page.

We want everyone to get out and enjoy the natural wonder of waterfalls, but it’s important to remember that you will be out in the wilderness, not at a controlled theme park.

Many visitors don’t realize that waterfalls in this area cannot be viewed by car. Most require a hike to get to; and others can only be seen by boat. Some hikes are short and easy, while others are several miles round trip and quite strenuous.

Yellow Branch Falls

Please consider whether you, or those in your party, are able to handle the round trip. Each month 10 or 12 people have to be rescued because they tried to scramble up rocky terrain to reach the top of a waterfall or they were not able to handle the entire hike. Be sure to take plenty of water, go with a buddy, pay attention to the weather, and use common sense.
