The Chauga and Chattooga Rivers around Mountain Rest offer some of the region’s most beautiful scenery. The Walhalla State Fish Hatchery‘s access points provide front-row views of crystal-clear water, mountain landscapes, and excellent trout fishing opportunities along the East Fork of the Chattooga River.
Oconee State Park
Since opening in 1935, Oconee State Park has served as a gateway to some of South Carolina’s most treasured outdoor spaces. Historic stone structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, access to the Foothills Trail, and quiet stretches of forest make this park much more than a place to stop for a picnic.
